2009 Family Picture
As I mentioned on my post a couple of weeks ago, Daniel didn't create a family picture for 2009. I was wrong about it.
While going through some of his stories, I found this picture. He titled it Jet Pack Hoorray! and at the back he written 2nd year. I believe he's referring to the 2nd year of this site.
The year 2009 is depicted at the bottom and he used stickers to represent the two zeroes. On the picture, Daniel is on the left-most side, it appears that he didn't have glasses yet when he drew this. Same thing with Daryl who is beside him, he didn't have glasses yet. I'm beside Daryl and my wife is on the right-most on the picture.

Time Capsule
Daniel decided to make a Time Capsule thinking that somebody in the future will be able to get it. He placed a lot of toys and things in it and buried it at our backyard. I told him to take some pictures of his time capsule so I can put it in his site.
Not really sure who's going to get it but maybe in the next 5 or 10 years, Daniel or Daryl might dig it up.
Here's the Time Capsule. He wrote "For: Anybody, From: Dan"
Not sure what's going on with the strings around it.
Here's the cover. He wrapped it with paper and used a Sharpie to color it black.
The bottom of the Time Capsule. It says, "From: Daniel"
Inside of the Time Capsule
Here are the stuff that he's putting in: crayons, markers, silly bands, Go Go's, toys, a dollar, and coins (local and international)
Here's Daniel digging up the hole. I told him to put the Time Capsule in a Ziploc bag so water will not go inside it and also it will prevent some rusting on the can.
Not really sure who's going to get it but maybe in the next 5 or 10 years, Daniel or Daryl might dig it up.

Games
Here's an old drawing by Daniel. Looks like I'm getting time now to post these stuff. Like what I mentioned earlier, I'm way way behind.
I believe the kids are skipping rope. As you can see, Daniel even added strings to depict the ropes.

2010 Family Picture
A couple of years ago, I posted Daniel's drawings of our Family (click here). Daniel created a new one for this year 2010 (he didn't create one for 2009).
Starting from the left, that's Daniel in gray. He's wearing glasses now so his picture has it, too. Daryl is beside him in red. Daryl's favorite color is red and he's also wearing glasses. The next person is my wife (pink) and on her left arm is the new addition to our family, Daphne, who's also in pink. Lastly, I'm the farthest to the right (in orange).
Things have gotten busy in the house with a new member in our Family. I still have a lot of sketches that I need to post. Daryl has been drawing lately and he has a lot of pictures, too. I think I need a week or two away from work to post all of them.

Kids Workshop at The Home Depot - Fire Boat
It was another Kids Workshop at the Home Depot last week and Daryl wanted to go because he's going to make a Fire Boat. He was a little disappointed that he was not able to make a Fire Truck at Lowe's but when he saw the Fire Boat, he got excited.
I was only bringing Daryl but Daniel decided to tag along. When we got to Home Depot, they were also doing a Fire Safety prevention clinic. While Daniel and Daryl was making their Fire Boats, a Fire Truck came and parked in front of Home Depot.
Daniel and Daryl had fun on making the Fire Boat. They were also able to board the Fire Truck and looked around. On the next month's Workshop, the kids are making a Spice Rack. I'm going to convince both kids since we can use the spice rack in the kitchen.

A piece of the Fire Boat was completed but Daryl wants to go a step ahead.
Top of the boat is finished
Just need to screw both pieces to finish the assembly
Daryl placed the parts and is moving to put on the stickers.

Kids Workshop at The Home Depot - Painted School Bus Pencil Organizer
Back in August, Daryl made a School Bus Pencil Organizer. I helped him paint the thing so it will look like a school bus. He was happy with the finished product.

Lowe's Build and Grow - Puppet Theater
I brought Daryl to the Lowe's Build and Grow program a couple of weeks ago. He was looking forward to make a Fire Truck but when we got there, he had to make a Puppet Theater instead. He was disappointed at first because he knew a week beforehand that he will be making a Fire Truck. I had to convince Daryl to make the Theater and showed him that he can make stories using it.
I asked the coordinator what happened to the Fire Truck kit and she said that it got recalled. Luckily, there were a couple of real Fire trucks on the Lowe's Parking lot and Daryl had the chance to take a look at them. Lowe's and I guess the city was promoting the Fire Safety Awareness month. There were also other activities and Daryl got a Fire Safety coloring book.

Daryl also has a Patch collection which he started when Daniel started collecting patches from the Cub Scouts. Daryl was also looking forward to the Lowe's Build and Grow project that week since he said that it will be his 10th patch on his collection

GeoTrax Tracks
Daryl likes playing with his GeoTrax trains. He would create tracks on his own and he made different designs for several days. The family room is messy but he made some interesting tracks. I've asked Daryl to name the tracks that he made below.
GeoTrax is a fun toy since you can design your own tracks. At times, I would even play the trains myself since I didn't have this toy when I was a kid. Kids can show their imagination and it's so easy for them to create their own designs. The only hardest thing to do is to ask Daryl to clean it all up after he plays with it. Oh well, at least I'm enjoying what he's doing.
