Space Derby

Daniel did another Cub Scout Activity. He had to make a Space Derby and it was his first time creating one.

I also remembered during the last Pinewood Derby that siblings or parents can also join the race as guests so I bought one for Daryl.

Here's the box of the Space Derby kit.
Inside the kit, there are rubberbands, two wooden blocks with grooves on it, propeller parts, plastic boards for the wings and stickers
I've glued the wooden blocks together and shown Daniel to file the blocks to make it round.
I told him to use this file to be shape the wood block.
When the wood turned somewhat round. I gave two sandpaper to Daniel (rough and medium grit) and asked him to use it to smoothen the block.
He wanted his Space Derby to be a magic wand so he painted it black.
Here's the other Space Derby that I created for Daryl and he's painting it red (his favorite color).
Daryl's Space Derby with some paint on it.
I added the top part (white part) to both of the Space Derby's because I have to use a sharp knife. I also assembled the parts and here's Daryl's Space Derby.
Here's Daniel's Space Derby and he added a #9 sticker.
The two Space Derbys beside each other.
The Space Derby is a fun Cub Scouting activity. There were several interesting designs created by the Cub Scouts. Daniel received a patch for joining the event.

Birthday Greeting Cards

Daniel celebrated his birthday last year with his classmates and he had a blast. He received wonderful gifts and greeting cards from his friends.

Several of the greeting cards were done by the kids and you'll be amazed by their talent and creativity. I have included below a few greeting cards that Daniel received.

Mario card created by Brian.

Here's a card from Julianna
The inside of the card has several stickers and shiny items.

This one came from Julia

It has a building and an ice cream cone
The back has a snowman on it.

Give drink to the thirsty

Here's another school drawing that Daniel made. I remember that he did this for a contest at school. It's a themed week and I believe it might be something like a Catholic week but I can't remember exactly. What I remember about this drawing is that he had to make another one because I forgot to put the 1 inch border around the paper.

Give drink to the thirsty

One guy is giving a glass of water to another person. If you look at the glass, there are splashes of water. The person that is thirsty appears to be in dire need of water because he's like steaming. There's also a little house at the bottom right corner. The sun is shining and the sky is blue and a few clouds can be seen up in the sky.

It's Paper DS time - Part 3

Playing Mario Hoops 3 on 3 this time.

I think this is the player selection screen.
3 Players are on the court playing basketball
I'm guessing that's the basketball ring on the top screen.
The top screen shows the Championship cup.
Looks like the player is a winner.

It's Paper DS time - Part 2

NOTE: 1 DS Now
Rock!
It's time to play Mario Party DS.
The 4 players are playing the mini-game Dust Buddies.
They have to run away and avoid being sucked by the vacuum.
This one is another mini-game where 2 players are dueling.
Daniel can't remember the game because it's been a year since he draw this and he hasn't played Mario Party for months now.
This one is another mini-game where the winner will get 10 coins.
The yellow thing on the bottom screen is a coin.
The player jumped over something.
This time the player is standing on something.

It's Paper DS time - Part 1

These drawings are one of the first ones that Daniel started doing the summer of 2008. Since I posted a Paper DS that he made a while ago.

It's more than a year and he's still thinking about his DS games. Kids these days are really attached to their video games.
NOTE: No Words
Here's an interpretation of the Mario Kart DS game.
The top screen shows Mario while the bottom screen shows the icons of the other racers.
Here comes a Bullet Bill (top screen)
Bottom screen still show the racers.
It looks like the Bullet Bill hit Bowser.
The racer made a drifting turn.
The game ended. It appears that Bowser (yellow) beat Waluigi (purple).

What is this? - The Final Answer

Do you remember this art work? I'm going to tell you now what it really is.

The art work below is for Groundhog day and the black thing is actually the shadow of the groundhog. See the groundhog below with the art work.

Seasons Art Work

This one is also intriguing at first until Daniel explained it.

He said each area represents the seasons:
Spring - upper left
Summer - upper right
Fall - lower left
Winter - lower right

What is this?

I've been going through Daniel's school art work and found several stashed on my wife's craft table. I will be posting most of them in the next few days.

I found one art work that's very interesting. I thought it was a submarine surfacing on the sea.

I was surprised when Daniel told me what this art work really is.
Can you guess it?

Daniel got this from his friend Jowie.
